ITV’s Daybreak recently launched an appeal encouraging people to 'Donate a Coat'. This was a nationwide appeal which was widely advertised in the local and national press. Coat donations were collected and distributed by the Salvation Army.
Paradigm's Lea Brdige House, who provide hostel accommodation for single people with low support needs, received a call from the Salvation Army in December asking if staff would like to receive some coats for residents as part of the appeal. Corinna Singam, Housing Officer at Lea Bridge House arranged everything and on December 14 took delivery of 142 coats, one for each resident.
The residents were delighted and extrememly grateful to the Salvation Army and everyone who had donated a coat. "It was a really nice gesture, particularly in the run up to Christmas and with the cold weather" commented a resident.
The 'Donate a Coat' appeal has now closed.
