Residents learn new skills
Our current Residents’ Training Programme is now running from January to June 2012. It includes courses designed to build confidence and give residents the skills needed to run residents’ groups or could even be helpful for those looking for a job.
Primary school treat for Atlas House
Children from Elmtree Primary School, Chesham visited elderly residents at Paradigm’s sheltered scheme, Atlas House on Tuesday December 13. The children aged from five to six sang a selection of Christmas carols including Away in a Manager and Jingle Bells. To the delight of residents they ‘signed’ Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer for those hard of hearing.
Keeping warm this winter
With fuel costs rising year-on-year we're all worried about how we can stay warm this winter. There are some things you can do, however, that will save money and don't necessary mean you have to turn up the heating.
Residents Health Fair success
More than 60 residents visited a Health Fair supported by Paradigm at Chiltern Heights, Amersham, Bucks on Tuesday 22 November. There were free health checks, information and advice on all aspects of mental and physical health as well as healthy eating and exercise.
A night at Nightingale Court
Love was in the air at Nightingale Court last month. The daughter of one of our residents at a sheltered scheme in High Wycombe, was getting married and she chose to be with her mum and stay in the guest room at Nightingale Court, the night before the wedding.
Moving toward solar energy
Over the last few months we have been working on a project which would have seen the installation of Solar Photovoltaic panels on up to 1000 of our properties.
Poised to deliver 853 new affordable homes
Paradigm will be delivering 853 new affordable homes across England as part of a four year agreement with the Homes and Community Agency (HCA).
MPs visit Paradigm development
Two members of the All Party Parliamentary Study Group for Construction visited Paradigm's new development in Hackney on October 25 to examine the innovative construction being employed by builder Kier, using timber frames manufactured off-site by Prestoplan.

National customer service week
As National Customer Services week draws to an end (3-7 October) we are looking at how we can provide great service by involving our customers. Our customers are best placed to tell us what our service is really like, which is why we have developed a range of opportunities for residents to get involved.
Affordable rents
Major changes are on their way which will affect the way we set some of our rent levels in future. The Coalition Government now expects housing associations to raise the money needed to fund the building of new homes, by charging rents for new lettings at a level up to 80% of the market rent for the area. This new approach is called the Affordable Rent Model.
Changes to new tenancies
The Coalition Government has stated that new tenants should no longer expect a tenancy for life. Instead new tenants should be given fixed-term tenancies with a tenancy review at the end of the fixed term. We know that our existing tenant are worried about what will happen to their home. Here are the answers to some likely questions.
Chesham is blooming
This years' Chesham In Bloom competition provided an opportunity for Chesham Town Council to say Thank You to residents, schools and businesses of Chesham who make the town beautiful with their annual floral displays. A variety of prizes, including those donated by Paradigm Housing Group, were presented by Town Mayor, Cllr Derek Lacey at an awards ceremony earlier this month.
New homes in Brent
Paradigm and Hill Partnership celebrated 76 new homes in Brent with a 'topping out' event 22 July.
Paradigm keeps building
Paradigm has been named by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) as one of the 146 organisations to share almost £1.8bn to build 80,000 new homes under the Governments' Affordable Homes Program.
Clearer accounts
Paradigm is using component accounting as recommended by the Accounting Standards Board and the National Housing Federation’s Statement of Recommended Practice.
