Paradigm Foundation awards £5,000 grant to mental health charity Lindengate

Posted on the 7th November 2018

The Paradigm Foundation is one of the original supporters of the Lindengate Charity near Wendover, Bucks. Lindengate has recently received a further grant of £5,000 to provide bursaries to help even more people benefit from their services.

Set up four years ago, Lindengate supports people with a wide range of mental health needs, such as depression, autism, dementia, head injuries, schizophrenia and personality disorders, by providing social and therapeutic horticulture.

Lindengate gardeners work alongside enthusiastic volunteers and staff in their private and safe five acre site. Working in the gardens enables people to escape the stresses of daily life and spend time in a managed and calm environment, reducing their isolation and working towards their recovery.

Activities include potting, digging and planting, developing displays or raised flower beds, arts and crafts, cookery using produce grown in the garden, and construction.

The garden is peaceful and quiet and has many quirky features and an eclectic mix of colourful plants, herbs and vegetables.

The gardens were developed originally from an old allotment, and service users have painted the old potting sheds in brightly coloured designs to resemble bathing huts.

There’s a fantastic scarecrow, wonderful planted beds, a pond and a beautiful mosaic feature.

The charity is not only providing vital services for people with mental health issues but also doing important conservation work such as working to eliminate Dutch Elm Disease, saving the endangered Black Poplar and the reintroduction of the Marsh Fritillary butterfly.

The original Foundation grant was spent on this polytunnel packed full to bursting with every type of seedling and plants.

We are really proud to be supporting this fantastic charity which is making such a difference to so many people’s lives.
