Activities return to The Foyer

Posted on the 14th April 2022

We have launched a new activity and learning programme called Well Fest at our Foyer in Welwyn Hatfield. The Foyer is our accommodation for young people between the ages of 16 and 24.

The aim of the festival is to support young people to identify positive activities that reduce loneliness and isolation and supports them to manage their own wellbeing.

There will be core sessions running weekly as well as one-off sessions planned by staff and the young people themselves as time goes on, including a food preparation Pod cast and film screenings, self-care, meditation and relaxation sessions.

In addition to group activities the young people will also be set challenges. This week there is an exercise and Healthy eating challenge. Future challenges will include sexual health and relationships, good sleep practice, reflection and lifestyle choice.

Foyer Team Leader Nancy Watson said: “Residents are really excited to have a full programme of events back at the Foyer. Focusing on wellbeing is a great start to the summer. Young people are signing up to the sessions and receiving a branded gift bag.

“The festival will be running till the end of June.”

Running throughout July, August and September will be a self-development programme aimed at accessing employment education and training. In the lead up to the new term, this will include managing wellbeing at work, being physically well for work, managing income when working, planning travel to areas of employment and training.

In October, November and December we will be running A healthy finances programme will run during October, November and December, aimed at good money management, accessing employment and training, eating well on a budget, preparing for move on and saving for Christmas.
