Loft insulation scam

Posted on the 28th March 2018

We have been made aware of a loft insulation scam by Thames Valley Police – you can find out more information here.

Although we occasionally ask specialist companies to inspect our properties to check the loft insulation, they will send a letter to residents in advance, advising that Paradigm have instructed them to carry out the inspection. Any operative will be carrying a copy of this letter along with ID and should always show these, but you can call our Customer Service team to confirm if you are unsure.

Please be aware of the following advice from Thames Valley Police:

  • Please remain vigilant and do not be afraid to hang up and confirm the caller’s identity, using another phone if possible.
  • If you are not sure who you are speaking with on the phone, do not commit to buy their product or arrange an appointment for them to visit your home.
  • Check the identity of the caller by calling the company they are claiming to be from i.e. council, gas, electricity, water and police – use the telephone numbers listed in your local directory or provided independently by your service provider. Do not use any telephone numbers provided by the caller as they may be bogus.
  • If someone unknown turns up at your door, do not let them in or make an appointment for them to visit until you are satisfied who they are – If in doubt keep them out!
  • If you are suspicious call the police on 101. If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
