Paradigm Foundation helps Amersham Museum expand exhibition space

A grant from Paradigm Foundation has helped Amersham Museum to create a new exhibition and learning space.

The new space has been designed to provide an area for temporary exhibitions, allowing the museum to increase access to collections which are not usually available to the public.

According to the Museum’s Curator, Emily Toettcher, “The new temporary exhibitions and activity space will transform the museum, enabling us to host exhibitions made by and for the local community, and to run a programme of arts activities for local people of all ages.

“We will be welcoming schools for local history workshops, families for creative activities, and older people to participate in reminiscence sessions. Most of all the space will enable the museum to be a cultural hub for local people to share, create and converse with each other. Thank you so much to Paradigm for your support. “

The temporary exhibitions space is already transforming the way the museum works. A number of activities have taken place in the space, including a meeting of the local reminiscence group, where they watched films made by a local resident, who is 91! The space has also been host to a tile making workshop for children and the opening of a photographic exhibition featuring contemporary images of people outside their homes.

Jane Harrison, Trustee for the Paradigm Foundation and Deputy Director of Finance for Paradigm Housing said: “We are pleased to have been able to support the Museum at this vital stage in its development, ensuring it remains a valuable resource for the local community, including many Paradigm residents.”

It is hoped that the new space will encourage more local people to visit the museum, ensuring its long term viability and success as a resource for the local community.
