Work is underway on the Lea Bridge refurbishment

Posted on the 15th July 2019

Improvement works are now well underway on the refurbishment at Lea Bridge House tower block in Leyton!

What are the improvements?

All rooms from the first floor to the ninth floor in the tower will be refurbished with new heaters and wash hand basins with new splash back panelling behind. All the communal showers, baths and toilets will be replaced and the walls white rocked (an easy to maintain alternative to tiles). New cubicles will be installed along with new flooring.

As part of the project we are also installing new pipework which includes hot and cold pipes, soil waste pipe and vents. We are working with contractors CLC on the refurbishment.

Michelle Mullings, Hostel Team Leader for Lea Bridge commented: “Paul Higgins, the Site Manager for CLC, has been amazing – we have built up a good working professional relationship and work well together. Paul is very informative and keeps me up to date with the ongoing works. He also has a good rapport and liaises well with our residents, and is happy to speak to them if they have any concerns about the work.

“The residents have been very accommodating and understanding. When we need to move residents to different rooms, we will make sure we keep all our residents informed and updated with progress and minimise disruption.”
