International Women’s Day 2025

For International Women’s Day, we want to highlight how secure housing is not just a roof over a head – it’s the foundation for security, growth and new opportunities.

We want to #AccelerateAction and recognise the vital role we all have to play in the delivery safe and secure homes.

Every conversation, every decision, and every service we provide makes a difference.

We asked some of our customers to share their experiences of what home means to them and how having a place to call their own has impacted their lives.

“The freedom and security of having my own space has been truly life changing. Housing is more than just a shelter – it’s the foundation for stability, health and serenity. It’s my sanctuary, my safe haven. If I could give people one piece of advice it would be to advocate for yourself, keep records of all communications with landlords or agencies, and explore every possible option.”

“From disability officers to the team at Paradigm, everyone made sure my home was fully adapted to my needs. They levelled the floors so I could move around freely without worrying about tripping, ensured I could use my wheelchair indoors, and even installed a new boiler. My home means everything to me. I’m so grateful to social services for providing me with carers to help. Having a home means feeling safe and secure. When you’re ill or unable to work, it’s easy to feel lost and scared for your children. But with the right support, those worries disappear, and you can start rebuilding your life. My family is happy again.”

“After experiencing domestic violence, I had to return to my mum’s home for safety. Then came an offer – a brand-new house with a garden from Paradigm. My home means everything to me – a safe haven, a space where my children could grow up in stability and a place to gather with loved ones. Moving into a Paradigm home changed my life, giving us an affordable, welcoming space that we’ve made our own. Housing insecurity is overwhelming, emotionally and mentally exhausting. My advice to anyone facing it: hang in there. Things do get better. Paradigm offers more than a home—it’s a place to feel safe, to breathe, and to rebuild your life.”
