Your local fire service will be able to offer clear advice about what to do in the event of a fire and the things you can do to prevent a fire starting in your home.
For example, see the advice from the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
We carry out regular fire risk assessments of blocks of flats where there are communal areas and entrances. Fire alarms and fire safety doors are checked monthly and all of our blocks have up to date assessments. Our estates officers carry out regular checks to identify any potential fire hazards, and any emergency lighting and smoke vents are regularly checked by specialist contractors.
We install smoke alarms in all our properties, but residents are responsible for maintaining them. The batteries should be tested once a month and replaced when necessary. There is more information on smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors here.
Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)
A PEEP is a simple plan that explains how you, or someone in your household, would safely leave the building in an emergency.
It helps us understand your needs and allows us to work closely with the local fire service so the right support is in place if it’s ever needed.
If your circumstances have changed since a PEEP was last completed, or you or someone in your household now needs help to evacuate safely, please click here to refer yourself for a residential PEEP, or update your information.
If you live in a block of flats, the following information is important:
Paradigm Housing Group is the ‘Principal Accountable Person’ at three high-rise residential buildings (blocks of flats that are over 18 metres tall). ‘Accountable Person’ is a legal term for the individual or organisation responsible for the structural and fire safety of specified buildings. These buildings are covered by the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
If you live in one of these three buildings – Kittiwake House, Slough; Goldings House, Welwyn Hatfield; and Lea Bridge House, London – we have consulted you about the building safety engagement strategy for your building. You can read the strategies here:
If a fire breaks out on your balcony, it could spread much faster than a fire inside your building. Please follow our guidelines to keep your balcony fire-safe:
