Damp and mould can produce allergens, irritants, mould spores and other potential toxins that can be harmful to health. They can cause ill health in anyone, but people with underlying health conditions, weakened immune systems, and some other groups of people are at greater risk of becoming unwell from damp and mould.
That’s why it’s important to understand what condensation, damp and mould are, and report any damp and mould to us quickly.
Condensation is the main cause of damp and mould in our homes. It’s most common in cold weather and in spaces with poor airflow.
It forms when warm, moist air meets a cold surface (like windows on a cold morning), creating water droplets.
