Paradigm Foundation supports inclusive theatre group

A theatre group in Hertfordshire says a grant from the Paradigm Foundation is allowing young people “to participate in drama, movement and music in an inclusive and safe environment.”

Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) received a £2,800 grant from the Paradigm Foundation which helped them run a week-long workshop for young people in the area.

Grants and Trusts Fundraiser for HIT, Liz Pilny said: “Paradigm has given children and young people the opportunity to express themselves without feeling any prejudice or judgement. We would not be able to offer such a fantastic workshop to the children without the brilliant support of Paradigm.”

The workshop culminated in a magical production of ‘Room on the Broom’ based on the book by Julia Donaldson.

Workshop leader Alex said one of the best parts of the week was watching a blossoming friendship form between one regular participant who often struggles to communicate and a very shy four-year old girl who was unsure if she would stay without her mum.

The confidence that the workshop and their friendship gave them meant that they ended up playing the main character of the witch together in the final performance!
