Grounds maintenance and communal cleaning

What you can find on this page:

Maintaining the grounds and communal areas we own is another way we can create homes and communities that are safe, attractive and pleasant places to live in.

What is grounds maintenance?

Grounds maintenance is how we keep things like lawns, beds, hedges and shrub areas tidy and well-kept so that the area around your home is safe and pleasant.

Who provides grounds maintenance?

John O’Conner Ltd provides grounds maintenance services on our behalf.

They’re responsible for cutting communal grass, maintaining our communal shrub beds and hedges, and weeding and moss removal on communal pathways.

Instead of choosing a frequency for tasks to be carried out, such as grass cutting, John O’Conner will make sure that a specified standard is met. You can find out more about our standards below.

When are they next coming to my estate?

John O’Conner have provided us with a site for Lifestone customers to view when their next visit will be. Find out when your next visit will be by clicking here and going to the bottom of this page.

Our standards

We have set out four standards, A, B, C, and D where:

  • A is above standard
  • B is standard met
  • C is below standard
  • D is service failure.

We expect an A standard after every visit, allowing for seasonal conditions.

We expect all sites to be at a B standard between visits.

If we inspect a site and find a C standard,  we will instruct John O’Conner that the site needs work to improve the standard.

Any inspection that highlights a D standard will result in John O’Conner being issued with a notice to put the site back to standard within three working days.

Report an issue

Our Estates Services team will inspect work monthly and work with John O’Conner to maintain the standard of the site.

To report an issue with your grounds maintenance or communal cleaning, please call us on 0300 303 1010 or email ContactUs@lifestone.co.uk.

Please note that extreme weather conditions may result in delayed attendance at your site. We will also aim to not cut hedges during bird nesting season (1 April – 31 August), to avoid disturbing nesting birds.
