Happy 30th anniversary to Paradigm

A prestigious gathering of guests and staff took place this week at the Chiltern District Council offices in Amersham in celebration of 30 years of Paradigm Housing success.

Staff from Paradigm welcomed many local dignitaries from around the Chiltern area, along with community neighbourhood police officers, Chair Julian Ashby and ex Chair David Easson, Paradigm Foundation grant recipients and long standing members of staff.

Our guests enjoyed a drinks and canapés reception and joined us in raising a toast to Paradigm past and future. Chief Executive Matthew Bailes talked about our 30 year history, how we’ve grown, where we are now and our ambitious plans for future developments in the area.

Matthew said: “I was delighted to see such a good turn out and not only celebrate our 30th anniversary but have the opportunity to discuss with key stakeholders our plans for housebuilding in the Chilterns, which remains a key area of focus for us. We will also be focusing on making sure that we listen to our customer’s voices so that we can improve our service delivery based on their feedback.”

Countess Elizabeth Howe, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Bucks for Chiltern district gave an impromptu speech thanking Paradigm for the event, for all our work in the area and also paid tribute to our long standing members of staff.

A fitting tribute…
The Right Reverend Anthony Priddis, one of our shareholders, sent his good wishes. He said “I was one of the 20 Founder Board Members when I was Rector of Amersham and recall those early years very vividly when we bought lock stock and barrel all the houses of Chiltern District before the Housing Act became law which would have made such a purchase impossible.

“We found it very difficult to get the £30m loan because the English banks and building societies would not take the risk in such unknown territory! Thankfully, it was only a matter of a very few years before the Chiltern Hundred Housing Association was making a nett increase to its housing stock for the benefit of families and the communities of South Bucks.

It has been great to see the housing stock continue to grow for the benefit of families in need. Long may that be the case.”
