Tell us how you’re celebrating VE Day

Posted on the 5th May 2020

This Friday 8 May marks 75 years since VE (Victory in Europe) Day when the Second World War came to an end in Europe. The long anticipated news resulted in spontaneous celebrations breaking out across the nation. A national holiday was declared and people from all walks of life came together to mark the moment.

Events have obviously been scaled back due to the current situation, but there is still lots you can do to celebrate and honour our veterans.

You can find loads of information on the official VE Day website here. There’s ideas for planning your VE Day party at home from food options to a 1940s playlist!

You can get your kids colouring in posters for your window and make your own bunting by downloading the toolkit here. You can also check out what your local community group is doing.

If you are doing anything at home or in your community, we want to hear about it! Or do you have a good family story to tell, either of VE Day itself or paying tribute to a family member who served in the war?
