If you are thinking of giving or receiving electrical items this Christmas, read on for some tips….

Research from the charity Electrical Safety First (ESF) found that millions more UK shoppers than usual will go online for Christmas gifts this year as a result of COVID 19.

However, ESF is concerned that consumers are just replacing one risk with another, as investigations by the charity have unearthed dangerous electrical products for sale via third parties. It repeatedly found unsafe devices for sale on sites including Amazon Marketplace and eBay.

You can reduce your risk by buying electrical goods from the stores or websites of known manufacturers or retailers, such as those found on the high street.

If it’s a new washing machine or tumble dryer on your Christmas list this year, make sure you register it online for manufacturers’ product recall and safety updates. You can quickly register any white goods up to 12 years old at www.registermyappliance.org.uk.
