To make sure you’re safe in your home, your property has been fitted with smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors.
You are responsible for understanding how your detectors work and for maintaining them.
Smoke and heat detectors will sound they detect smoke or heat above a certain temperature, warning you that there may be a fire in your home.
On the ceiling – the smoke detector is in the hallway and the heat detector is in the kitchen.
Once a week press and hold the test button until the alarm sounds.
Your detectors are connected to the main electricity supply with a battery back-up. You should replace the battery at least every 12 months.
Clean your detectors with a vacuum cleaner to keep them free from dust.

Carbon monoxide, also known as CO, is highly poisonous and can be produced if your gas appliance is faulty. You cannot see it, taste it or smell it – but its affects can be deadly.
A carbon monoxide (CO) detector will detect carbon monoxide gas, to stop carbon monoxide poisoning.
Usually at a high level in the room, near your boiler.
Weekly. Press and hold the test button. The detector should emit a loud alarm.
Your carbon monoxide detector may be powered by the main electricity supply with battery backup or by battery alone. You should read the user instructions provided in the customer welcome pack for detailed maintenance instructions.
Clean your carbon monoxide detector regularly with a vacuum cleaner to keep it dust-free.
