Attention all gardeners!

Posted on the 12th May 2023

We know many of you like taking care of your gardens, and we’d love for you to share your gardening achievements with us, so why not share a picture with us to win a £25 gardening voucher?

Even if you don’t have a garden in the traditional sense, don’t worry! You can still join in the fun by sending us a photo of your favourite container or pot.

Please submit photos of your garden to communications@paradigmhousing.co.uk by 15 August for your chance to win.

Good luck to all the green fingers out there!

Please note this competition is only open to Paradigm customers.

Our top tips for sustainable gardening:

  • Leave a gap in your fence for hedgehogs or other wildlife to get through – if your garden is enclosed you may be stopping them from reaching food.
  • Start a compost pile or bin to recycle kitchen scraps and garden waste.
  • Water your plants early, or late in the evening. Consider collecting rainwater in barrels and using it to water your garden.
  • Apply organic mulch, such as wood chips or straw, around your plants to retain soil moisture and stop weeds from growing.
  • Group together plants that benefit each other. For example, planting marigolds around your vegetable garden can deter pests naturally.
  • Create a pollinator-friendly garden by including flowers that attract bees and butterflies. These pollinators are essential for growing fruits and vegetables. Wildflowers are a cheap and easy source to attract our pollinating friends!
  • Save seeds from your mature plants to reuse in the following season.
  • Opt for organic fertilisers like compost or seaweed extracts to nourish your plants naturally and avoid synthetic chemicals that can harm the environment.
