Rent and service charges

We know rent and service charges can feel complicated, so this section explains how it all works and what to expect as you move over to Lifestone.

Your rent covers the cost of providing your home and maintaining it so it remains safe, secure and in good condition. The amount you pay and how it’s calculated will stay the same for now, and we’ll always give you four weeks’ notice before any changes are made.

Each year, rent is reviewed and may increase in line with government guidelines. This helps us continue to invest in your home, keep our services running smoothly, and meet rising costs. If your rent is due to change, we’ll write to you in advance to explain what’s changing and why.

You can find out more about annual rent and service charge increases here.

If you’re ever unsure about your rent account or need help managing payments, our Income team is here to support you.

If you live in a block or shared building, you may also pay a service charge. This helps cover the cost of shared services such as:

  • Cleaning and lighting in communal areas
  • Grounds maintenance and gardening
  • Lift maintenance and safety checks
  • Door entry or CCTV systems

Your service charge only covers the services you receive, and we’ll always provide a breakdown of what’s included.

You can pay your rent and service charges in the way that suits you best:

  • Direct Debit – the easiest and most reliable way to pay
  • Online via MyLifestone– quick and secure
  • By phone – using our automated payment line
  • At a PayPoint or Post Office – using your payment card

We recommend setting up a Direct Debit if you can. It helps you stay up to date and gives you one less thing to think about.
