Neighbourhood Management policy

Our Neighbourhood Management Policy sets out the approach to the management of neighbourhoods and communal areas in which we operate.

This policy sets out how we will work with our customers, local partners and other agencies in neighbourhood planning and improvements that ensure the safety of our customers and the appearance of our neighbourhoods.

A neighbourhood is defined as a geographically localised community within a larger town or city; this could be an estate or include a range of different types of properties within a location.

If you live in either general needs, supported, older persons housing schemes, home ownership and mixed tenure estates owned and managed by us, then yes.

This will also include those properties which are managed through a managing agent, or where we work in partnership with other landlords or stakeholders to deliver key neighbourhood services.

To keep neighbourhood areas safe, well maintained and attractive places to live we will:

  • Keep communal and external areas clean and safe and in a good state of repair
  • Carry out regular and scheduled estate inspections and maintain a regular and visible presence on  our estates
  • Remove bulk items of rubbish promptly
  • Provide cleaning services in the communal areas we are responsible for
  • Work with key stakeholders and agencies to promote environmentally friendly practices that ensure our estates are free from antisocial acts that have a negative impact on the environment such as fly tipping
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs play areas to ensure that they are safe and fit for purpose
  • Carry out emergency light testing in priority blocks

We will work with you and the feedback you give us to help inform where and what we need to do. We will put in place local improvement plans where these are needed.

From your feedback, neighbourhood improvements may include things like improving security such as installing CCTV or better lighting in an area, or better design of bin areas. Improvements may also include better environmental practices or measures that improve the wellbeing of our customers.

Our Anti-social behaviour policy sets out the approach to dealing with ASB and neighbourhood disputes.

You can help us maintain our neighbourhoods by reporting any issues to us by calling 0300 303 1010.
