Update on repairs

Posted on the 18th November 2021

A number of factors are currently impacting the service we provide meaning some jobs are taking longer to complete than we would like.

We continue to receive a far higher number of new repair requests from customers than usual. There are also supply issues with certain materials, which is increasing the time it is taking us to complete some repairs.

In addition, there is still a backlog of repairs built up during the COVID lockdowns, when we followed Government guidance and stopped doing all but the most urgent repairs. This was due to reduced access to homes (unless essential) to minimise the risk to customers and staff.

We have employed additional contractors to deal with the backlog and speed up how quickly we carry out repairs and, given the current high number of new repair requests, we still require more. We are also running a recruitment campaign to employ additional operatives to work for us directly. There is significant competition for skilled operatives as most other landlords are experiencing the same challenges as Paradigm.

We know that a good quality repairs service to your home is important to our customers, so we have to strike the right balance between getting repairs done quickly and making sure they are good quality when we do use sub-contractors.

Please be assured this is a priority for our business – we are continuing to look for solutions so we can clear the backlog as quickly as possible. We really appreciate our customer’s patience while we work through this and will keep everyone posted about progress.
