Jake and Sean are switched on!

Congratulations to electrical apprentices Jake Marsh and Sean Penman who have completed their four-year apprenticeship and are now qualified electricians.

Jake and Sean, who received their certificates yesterday, were delighted to have finished the course and praised the support they received from Paradigm staff and Amersham and Wycombe College.

“The apprenticeship was great for me, it was brilliant being able to learn the theory and get practical experience at the same time” says Jake, who was 18 when he started the course.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to actually get qualified in a trade. A four-year apprenticeship did seem a bit daunting at first but it was definitely worth it.”

Sean, who had a variety of jobs before starting his apprenticeship including working on the roads, was determined to qualify in a trade before he was 30 – and he has just made it!

“I must admit, at times it did seem like a long journey but now when I look back it seems to have gone really quickly” says Sean. “I was really grateful for the opportunity and the support I’ve received from the college and Paradigm.”

They have now moved into an improver role and hope to progress to become fully integrated into the electrical team.

“Both Jake and Sean were really committed to the training, they put in the hard work and stuck to it, even when it was sometimes difficult” says Stephen Pink, Electrical Manager. “We are looking forward to helping them build up their experience and skills at Paradigm.”

Nigel Fisher, Lead Assessor at Amersham and Wycombe College, said: “Paradigm were fully committed to this scheme, making sure that the work experience the apprentices were doing tied in with the modules they were studying at College, it’s a real success story.”
